Sculpting with wool (felting)
May 27, 2014
Maria Romeo, acclaimed multimeda artist and OHAG member, shared the technique with participants of working with wool to create 3 dimensional art. Refreshments were served. Successful sculptures were created by approximately 15 participants due to Maria's well planned presentation and teaching skills.

Decked Out

We had 39 artists participating and had probably around 300 visitors! Thank you to the members who provided snacks - they were wonderful. And of course a big THANK YOU to all who helped at the bar and in the kitchen.

April Field Trip!

by P.Kay Hille-Hatten: OHAG Members traveled to downtown San Jose and were treated to some inspiring and emotional exhibits.
ICA San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art - Exhibits " Variation and Betwixt" Large scale paper installation displayed in the front windows by Tahiti Pehrson. "Toriawase" Juxtapose traditional and historical Japanese art objects. "Executive Order 9066: The Tag Project" Wendy Maruyama. Large hanging sculptures of tags one for every Japanese person in a camp. (not allowed to photograph) Very emotional exhibit.
San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles - Exhibits "Tasty, too" whimsical exploration into the intersection of some of our most basic needs - food, warmth, community - showcasing food inspired quilts and textiles. "Metamorphosis: Clothing and Identity" is a retrospective of the San Francisco Bay Area Art-to-Wear movement.

Kyoto Textiles and Arts

Denise and Kay spent some time in Kyoto, touring artist studios and other places of interest. Today they told us all about it, showed us pictures and mementos they brought back. The event was extremely well attended and we all had fun!

Hand Crafter Paper Demo

Fiber artist, Jeanne Tillman, demonstrated her techniques for creating hand-crafted paper and art objects from recycled paper. Jeanne also provided materials for participants to make a sample in the form of a paper leaf.
